Addicted

Being an addict is the consequence of the process of abusing alcohol and drugs.  The process leads into a condition, but you can manipulate a condition back into the process.  The process is called conditioning, the condition is called addicted, the way out is the way in.

I often say mental health is a skill and the loss of mental health is due to the inability to acquire the proper form and technique to apply that skill.  When we treat addiction as a dysfunctional experience, a condition, we fail to address the process.  No one is a finished product, absolutely no one, and yet many of us in the treatment community look upon our clients as products.  The fact of the matter is they are stuck, anchored, fixated on their own irrational ways of looking at their personal self in context with their social self.

More to come on “addiction” which is in effect surrendered power of control.
